[applause] and reverend mullings who gave us the invocation and had a church in the middle of the rockaways told you half the story. the reverend to me epitomizes what citizens did all across this state. they took the church and removed the pughs and removed the art facts and turned it into an emergency shelter for state workers and local workers for the fema workers to work out of the church. and i remember speaking to the reverend about it and he said what is a better use for a church during a storm when people need -- are in need than to literally turn it into a shelter. it was right and it was true but it was hard to do. he was there 24 hours a day 7 days a week. he was the moral support for the community. he represent it is best leadership of new yorkers. i'd ask him to stand so we can give him a round of applause.
